What piece of tech excites you at the moment?

Gen AI. I know it’s a cliche, but it will revolutionise how we work and organise our lives. From a work perspective, it is great for efficiency but also prompting ideation and evolution for strategy and planning. In my personal life I have used it to plan a holiday and training sessions for a netball team I coach. We are just scratching the surface of what’s possible. I do wonder how this will change the way we value knowledge, given it will be at our fingertips and the impact on job markets – will physical labour (nurses, builders, plumbers) be more valuable than knowledge-based jobs (accountants, lawyers, marketers)? The other challenge will be ensuring future generations still have critical thinking skills to challenge what is presented and not rely on it.

What technology can’t you live without?

Notes App and my online calendar. It is widely reported we make 35,000 decisions in a day, I rely on notes and reminders in my calendar to keep track of all the things I need to remember and do. It’s not uncommon for me to wake up, remember something and add it to my calendar at 3am.

What annoys you in the world of tech currently?

Passwords! I have a reputation in my family for never remembering my password – which is a problem when I control the Spotify and Netflix access. Having to come up with different variations, different lengths, including/excluding special characters – it makes me laugh and cry at the same time. I’d say I reset at least 2-3 passwords a week. Sigh.
